Our Story
Because of our positive church experiences while in the Air Force, we had always had a desire to serve the military community. Part of our decision to plant a Vineyard church in the Milton area was because of Whiting Field. Because Darrell had been a student pilot and instructor, we felt this community would be a good fit for us. Some of the relationships we established with civilian and military families during our time in the Air Force are still thriving today. We wanted others to experience real relationships – with Jesus and with others – as we have done.
In August of 2004, we moved to Milton and by January we started an Alpha Course with some neighbors and other acquaintances. We did some Servant Evangelism in the area – like handing out hot chocolate at the Mardi Gras parade. With a group of twelve, we held our first public service on Palm Sunday 2005 at the Milton Community Center where we met for three and a half years. We moved into our present location in October 2008.
During this time we have established some annual outreach projects – the Fair Affair where we serve a meal to the carnival workers and the local volunteers who set up the fair, and an original Christmas drama. You might have seen us at the Fourth of July Riverwalk Festival with a pet watering station, or used some of the insect repellant in packets we hand out about the time the mosquitoes come out.
If you want to experience a community of real relationships with other people who are not perfect but want to grow in their relationship with Jesus, we’d love for you to come do life with us and join us in this journey.
